Let’s talk about

PTSD & Trauma Therapy

Living with trauma, PTSD, or Complex PTSD (CPTSD) can feel like you’re battling a storm that no one else can see. The weight of the past can make it hard to breathe, sleep, or even find joy in things.

I understand how exhausting it is to live this way and how isolating it can feel when others don’t truly get what you’re going through. My mission is to offer a safe place where you can share your pain without having to worry about burdening anyone or being judged, because it I can hold space for the most painful things in a way that sometimes family and friends can’t.

And even more than that, I can offer a plan for how to heal from the trauma so you build a sense of peace and control in your life. If you’re struggling with any of these symptoms, you might have unresolved trauma that I can help with:

  • Persistent feelings of sadness, fear, or worry.
  • Reliving events, which can cause panic and distress.
  • Constantly being on edge or overly alert to potential dangers.
  • Trouble focusing on tasks due to intrusive thoughts or overwhelming emotions.
  • Unexplained physical symptoms.
  • Using food, drugs or alcohol to cope with emotional pain.
  • Insomnia or irregular sleep patterns, often exacerbated by nightmares.
  • Struggling to form close relationships or maintaining healthy connections due to fear of being hurt.
  • Increased arguments or tension in relationships, often due to irritability or emotional numbness.
  • Steering clear of places, people, or activities that remind you of painful things.
  • Feelings of worthlessness or guilt, including self-blame for what happened or for not being able to “just move on.”
  • A sense of detachment from oneself or reality, leading to feelings of dissociation or depersonalization.

FAQ’s about PTSD & Trauma Therapy with me

I use a variety of therapy techniques tailored to each client to help individuals heal and resolve the trauma symptoms that are interfering with their lives. The types of therapy we would use to work on your trauma depend on the type of trauma you’re dealing with, how it’s affecting you, and your personal preference. The three main therapies I use most often to heal trauma are:

Brainspotting & EMDR
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
Somatic therapy/Polyvagal

After we meet and do our assessment in the first session, we can discuss the different types of trauma therapy to decide together which one(s) would be the best fit for you.

I’ve seen clients make some amazing breakthroughs in healing their trauma and finding relief from PTSD in a matter of months, though it can certainly take longer. It will depend on the extent of your trauma, as well as other coexisting mental health conditions we might be treating, such as anxiety, depression, an eating disorder, etc. It also depends on how frequently you have sessions and how engaged you are with the process. For example, someone who comes to sessions just twice a month and doesn’t do any “homework” between sessions usually doesn’t make as much progress as someone who comes weekly and does work in between session.

Also, before we can really dive into the deeper trauma work, we need to make sure you’re in a stable place. That means that you’re able to use healthy coping skills when you’re distressed, instead of using destructive behaviors to cope with uncomfortable emotions. So when it’s needed, we spend time at the beginning of treatment laying a good foundation of healthy emotional regulation and distress tolerance skills before we start the trauma work. We don’t want trauma therapy to push further into behaviors that are harmful for you.

If you have an eating disorder and are undernourished, we also might need to get you more nourished first so that your brain is not in a starved state and has the energy and nutrients it needs to heal. Trauma is healing is brain and body healing.

The first meeting, the assessment session, costs $185. Regular sessions after that are $170. Sessions are about 50-minutes each. I do not accept insurance but can provide a superbill for you to submit to insurance for out-of-network reimbursement, if that’s your plan offers that.

I have worked with kids and teens in the past, but now I focus my practice exclusively on adults. If you’re looking for support for someone under 18 years old, please still reach out, and I will try to connect you with a trusted colleague who works with that age! Contact me here.
